Fall Golf Outing

Join us for our Fall Golf Outing on Sunday, October 10th (which just happens to be a Steelers Bye-Week). Tee time is at 9:20 am at Fort Cherry Golf Course. It’s $55 per golfer, and it is a mixed foursome scramble. The deadline to sign up is September 30th! See Tony or Jack for more details. Dinner and beer included at Downey’s House after golf!

Half Way to St. Patrick’s Day!

Join us for our annual Half Way to St. Patrick’s Day celebration! This year, it is Saturday, September 18th. We will have our ever popular Irish Menu and specials on Harp and Guinness. And just like back on parade day 2009, we will have The Ian Arthurs Band for our live entertainment.

Skydiving on August 22nd!

If you’ve ever wanted to go skydiving, you can join some of our staff and great customers on August 22nd. Just stop in and speak with Nikki or a manager to sign up. The cost is $225 and, from what I hear, completely worth it. It’s all set up through SkydivePA. Go and check out their site!

2010 Golf Outing a Success

Just a quick thank you to everybody who was involved in the 2010 Golf Outing! Although Tony and Jack spent a lot of time and effort putting this years’ event together, it was worth it! We raised a nice chunk of change for Autism Speaks, and it seems like everybody had a great time. Joe, Anita and Shou did a great job with the ribs and chicken, too!!! We’ll post some team pictures soon, but for now, here’s a picture of Tony, Heather and their girls with Louie Lipps from the dinner:

Sloppy Joe Showdown

I think everybody had a great time at the 2010 Sloppy Joe Showdown. I’ll have some more pictures and video posted shortly, but here are a couple of pictures of the winner, Brad Scuillo. He ate 29 Sloppy Joes in 8 minutes. Really. The first picture is during the competition. He looks a little better posing with the trophy Look for more pics this week!

But we are only accepting a limited number of contestants, so you can pre-register by emailing tim@downeyshouse.com. Even if you’re not competing, it’s quite a sight to see! Family friendly fun, and slightly gross.

Come and check out some comedy on the deck!!! Brought to you by Slapstick Productions, LLC. Saturday, July 17th we will have comedy featuring David Kaye, Bill Scott and Mike Wysocki. Cornhole League

Our cornhole league is back again this year! Everybody had a great time last year, so come and join the fun. We think that the teams will fill up quickly, so here’s what you need to do: Come in!!! You can sign up your team with the bartender or manager on duty. We are having two person teams, but you can put a third person down as an alternate, or rotate which two players play. The teams will meet every Tuesday at 7:00. The ‘informational’ (really…it won’t be boring. Nothing is boring here!) meeting will be Tuesday, May 11th at 7:00 and league play starts the following week (May 18th).

Tuesday Night Jam Night

We’re trying something new at Downey’s House! Every Tuesday in May we will have Jam Night with The Lou Ross Band featuring Bubs McKeg. Everything gets rolling about 8:30 and wraps up at 11:30. This will be inside, and the Cornhole League (more info to follow on that) will be out on the deck.

Come and jam, listen, or just enjoy your favorite bartender, Mary!

UPDATE: Because of the Penguins Playoff Schedule, The Tuesday Night Jam will start May 11th

Second Annual Charity Golf Outing

Our second annual golf outing will be on July 25, 2010 at Blackhawk Golf Course. $100 per golfer, and that includes 18 holes of golf with cart, team photo, beer, beverages, hot dog and chips at the turn. Dinner, Chinese auction and prizes immediately following at Downey’s House.
